- Symposium: Identity and Ideology in the Sahelian Jihads
Violent extremist groups in the Sahel have proliferated, splintered, and formed affiliations with actors elsewhere in the Muslim world. This has resulted in a complex and shifting landscape of groups and alliances, characterized by occasional collaboration but also frequent infighting. Our symposium will bring together four experts with deep knowledge and research experience on Sahelian jihadi movements to examine the nature of these groups and the forces driving them.
